Health services

On the 17th of January 1954, the hospital Sainte-Catherine Labouré of Coaticook received its first patient. Since then there have been many transformations. In fact, on the 24th of December 1971, the hospital is renamed to the Hospital Centre of Coaticook following the merger with Corporation du foyer de Coaticook Inc. Afterwards, on the 1st of October 1996, another merger takes place. This time concerning the CLSC Albert Samson and the Hospital centre which takes on the new name of Carrefour de la santé, des services sociaux, CLSC and CHLSD de la MRC de Coaticook (CSSSC). From that moment onward, all the medical needs of the MRC can be found under one roof.

Current health services include emergency care, psychological care, physical rehabilitation and nutrition. Also, different monitored assistance programs are offered for both long or short terms.

Additionally, we have a community organization dedicated to mental health, named L’Eveil. It offers moral support to anyone in need and provides a feeling of belonging akin to that of a family.

The 18,420 residents of the MRC have working for them a team of 13 doctors, making a ratio of 1 doctor per 1,416 people. The doctors work in four locations: the hospital of Coaticook, the Waterville-Compton medical clinic, the family clinic of Coaticook and a private office in Waterville. In addition, a nurse works at La Frontalière high school every Wednesday during the school year.
